Gaslighting as a form of psychological violence is now a significant concern due to its serious impact on victims, particularly in the form of reality manipulation and self-doubt. Although the term gaslighting is not explicitly regulated in Indonesian criminal law, its practice can be found in the categories of psychological violence, sexual harassment, and abuse of trust. The Mataram District Court Decision Number 23/Pid.Sus/2025/PN Mtr is relevant to study because the panel of judges emphasized the elements of "abuse of trust" and "exploitation of the victim's vulnerability" in sentencing the defendant, which are consistent with the practice of gaslighting. This study uses a normative juridical method with a case study approach to the decision, supported by an analysis of legislation, victimology theory, and the concept of legal protection. The results show that the legal framework in Indonesia actually recognizes psychological violence, but its implementation in court is still limited. The main challenge lies in proving gaslighting because it is non-physical in nature, so that the testimony of the victim, expert witnesses, and digital evidence is very important. The Mataram District Court's ruling can be considered progressive because it imposed a severe sentence, but victim protection, particularly psychological recovery and restitution, still needs to be strengthened. Therefore, the development of more comprehensive evidentiary guidelines and policies is needed to ensure legal protection for gaslighting victims.
